Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel is a story that speaks to all of us: two children, lost and hungry in a darkening forest, summoning every scrap of courage and wit to outsmart a very wicked witch indeed.
This beautifully crafted five-singer production, directed by Lucy Bradley, designed by Janis Hart, and accompanied by an intimate piano arrangement, strips the opera back to its storytelling heart. An exciting cast, including many current and previous Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists, and a local children’s chorus, bring this fairy tale to life.
