THE SORRIES are Douglas Kay (vocals, guitar, bodhran, mandolin, flute) & Martin Philip (vocals, guitar, bodhran). The duo sing, play and banter their way through a set of much-loved Scottish folk songs, breathing new life into the country’s traditional music with their vibrant arrangements, resonant harmonies and engaging stagecraft.
Formed in 2006, the last two decades have seen the pair tour the UK and beyond, gracing stages from the Isle of Eigg Community Hall to Murrayfield Stadium. The duo’s annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows have earned multiple 5-star reviews, led to features on BBC Scotland and helped them develop a fan base which reaches from the Western Isles to Western Australia. This global appeal is evident in the reception of their recorded output – tracks from their 7 albums have received airplay at home and abroad and racked up worldwide streaming figures in the hundreds of thousands.
Away from the live stage and the recording studio, The Sorries share their knowledge and enthusiasm for Scottish music through talks in universities, schools & clubs and through their podcast – The Scottish Song Guide – in which the duo explore the origins and development of some of the songs they perform.
